Every other Saturday, our dogs come with their fosterers to the clinic for their exams including vaccines, weight checks, and tests. Dogs adopted and preparing for transport to their new homes get their final health exam and microchips. There are approximately 20 dogs scheduled for each clnic.

During this time, volunteers distribute dog food and hand out the medicine prescribed for each dog, such as de-wormers; flea, garrapata, and heartworm prevention, and supplements.

It’s a busy day with a lot of preparation and follow up. We’re so grateful to the many volunteers who assist and for the fosters who care for these dogs in their homes.

In addition to the dogs in our program, we provide support to the Grupo Voluntario Calafia K9 unitthe search & rescue dogs which perform a vital function in our city as well as other parts of Mexico. De hecho, one of the dogs named Cali has found 7 lost humans. She is a real championand like all of the dogs in this teamshe herself was rescued as a stray. We anticipate including some demonstrations at our Amigos de 4 Patas center in La Paz in the future. Stay tuned!

At the conclusion of each clinic we have test results to assess, veterinary records to update, referrals for special care, and then we begin preparation for the next clinic. There are many volunteers behind the scenes who help make these clinics possible and we thank all of you!
