February is Heart Month – Stop Heartworm from Spreading

February is heart month
Of course, February with the highlight being Valentine’s Day is all about affairs of the heart.
When you think of your dogs and their heart, you should think of Heartworm disease. Our Wellness Program ensures that all the dogs in our program are first tested for heartworm and then preventative medicine is given every month to ensure that they do not contract the disease.
There is a very informative article from the U.S Food and Drug Administration that outlines how heartworm is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.
This infographic portrays the life cycle of the heartworm.
