Please don’t be fooled by the ears.

Or the tiny paws.

Or that sweet little face that seems to say, “Who, me?”

Yes, you, Piero.

Piero is a professional escape artist trapped in the body of an adorable puppy.

And he’s already showing remarkable promise in his chosen career.

While other puppies are still figuring out where the water bowl is, Piero has taught himself how to use the doggy door.

No instructions.

No demonstration.

No permission slip.

He simply decided that if there was a door leading to the patio, he ought to know how to operate it.

And that pretty much sums up Piero.

He’s clever, fearless, mischievous, and absolutely convinced that the world was created for his personal exploration.

His favorite activities include playing with other dogs, chewing on stuffed toys, investigating things that probably shouldn’t be investigated, and accepting hugs from his humans.

Because beneath that adventurous exterior is a very affectionate little fellow who loves being held.

Piero and his brother Enzo came from an unwanted litter. Fortunately, they were able to stay with their mother until they were two months old, and both have grown into happy puppies who trust people and enjoy human affection.

Piero, however, seems to have taken the concept of independence a little further than most.

A closed door? Interesting challenge.

A fence? Something worth investigating.

A new toy? Let’s see what happens if I chew on it.

He’s not afraid of much, and he’s always ready for another adventure.

Piero is a high-energy puppy who needs plenty of exercise, playtime, supervision, and patient humans willing to help him learn the rules of civilized household living.

He already comes when called, but his other obedience skills are still under construction.

His ideal home would have a very securely fenced yard, friendly dogs to play with, and people who enjoy spending time teaching an intelligent, energetic puppy.

He would not be a good match for a household with children, a family that leaves him alone for long periods, or anyone hoping for a quiet, low-maintenance companion.

And because Piero is unusually talented at finding ways out, his future family will need to be especially careful with doors, gates, and fencing.

Piero isn’t trying to be difficult.

He’s simply a little genius with a very busy imagination.

Give him love, patience, appropriate things to chew, plenty of activity, and a safe place to explore, and you’ll have a wonderful little partner in adventure.

Just remember: If Piero suddenly looks especially innocent, you might want to check the gate.
