At this stage in his career, Tachito has narrowed his professional interests to three areas: Eating, sleeping, and keeping an eye on the house. He considers this a perfectly reasonable workload.

Tachito spent the first eight years of his life belonging to one person. Then his owner died, and instead of being cared for by the family left behind, Tachito was put out on the street where he survived for an entire year before someone finally rescued him. So you’ll have to forgive Tachito if he doesn’t immediately assume that every new person and every new situation is wonderful. Trust, in his experience, is something worth taking a little time to establish.

What Tachito needs now is not a busy household determined to turn him into somebody he isn’t. He needs a quiet home, access to a patio, people who respect his personal space, and someone patient enough to let him learn the household routine at his own pace. Give him that time, and underneath the cautious exterior you’ll discover a smart little dog who understands far more than he lets on and is perfectly capable of learning new things once he feels safe.

He’s not looking for cats, crowds or a packed social calendar. Frankly, Tachito has already had enough excitement for one lifetime. He’s looking for stability. A comfortable place to sleep. Regular meals. A patio to patrol. Humans he can learn to trust. In exchange, he’s prepared to keep a watchful eye on the premises. Between naps, of course.
