Financial Impact Statement

To comply with legal requirements in both the United States and Mexico, we maintain two distinct legal entities:

  • Voluntarios por los perros de La Paz, A.C. (aka “Amigos de 4 Patas”):
    • This is our Mexican entity, translating to “Friends of 4-Leggeds” (Amigos de 4 Patas). Financial transactions are reported, taxed, and accounted for in MXN (pesos).
  • Hope 4 La Pawz (Hope):
    • Hope is our U.S. Charity incorporated in the State of Washington and holds federal tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). Donors can deduct contributions from their U.S. tax filings, and we are qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devices, transfers, and gifts. Check our federal status here and you can use our EIN of 87-1890430.
    • As a Washington charity, Hope files annual reports by July 31, quarterly excise tax filings, and calendar year-end reports to other entities.
    • We are also registered as a foreign corporation in the states of Oregon and California. For California donors, we hold tax-deductible status with the Franchise Tax Board, allowing deductions from state tax returns. You can verify our California state tax exempt status using our name (Hope 4 La Pawz) or entity id of 4821288 here.

To enhance transparency, we organize our financial statements in alignment with the IRS Form 990 and consolidate the data from both organizations to provide a comprehensive overview of how funds are utilized. Should you have any questions or need specific financial statements, you can write to us at admin@hope4lapawz.org
