4 Patas System and Supporting Programs
We at Amigos de 4 Patas (AMIGOS) are an organization of volunteers who rescue dogs, foster them in our own homes, and help others to do the same thing. Our adoption system includes food, vaccines, deworming, and sterilization. If you have rescued a dog, and would like help get your rescue dog adopted, please read on.
If you are looking to deposit a dog you found somewhere, report a dog that needs to be picked up, report a case of animal abuse or neglect, then you must contact the appropriate authorities.
To get started, you should read the Rescue Guidelines page . We always recommend taking your rescued dog to a vet because we don’t have a 24 hour emergency clinic and cannot see you dog immediately. If the rescue dog needs veterinary treatment right away or is in pain, this is the humane thing to do. Bring any veterinary records with you to your first appointment with us or you can submit any documentation you have with your Intake Form. If
You will be contacted by an intake coordinator to answer any questions you have about the program. You will be asked to sign a Spanish Language or English Language Commitment Letter at that time as well.
Your rescued dog, once vaccinated and healthy, will be advertised in several US and Canada-based registries as well as a North American registry. When someone shows interest in adopting your dog, our team will work with you and the potential adopter to evaluate whether this is the right home for the dog. Then, when your dog is officially adopted, we handle the transportation of your dog to it’s new home.
