4 Patas System and Supporting Programs
We at Amigos de 4 Patas (AMIGOS) are an organization of volunteers who rescue dogs, foster them in our own homes, and help others to do the same thing. Our adoption system includes food, vaccines, deworming, and sterilization. If you have rescued a dog, and would like help get your rescue dog adopted, please read on.
If you are looking to deposit a dog you found somewhere, report a dog that needs to be picked up, report a case of animal abuse or neglect, then you must contact the appropriate authorities.
To get started, you should read the Rescue Guidelines page . Take your rescue to the vet and ask them to provide you with a letter that explains the health of your dog as you will need to submit that with the Intake Form. If you or your vet are not sure what to provide, here is a sample:
You will be contacted by an intake coordinator for a home visit to help you ensure your home is adequately secured for the dog, meet your rescued dog and any other dogs you have in the home, and to answer any questions you have about the program. You will be asked to sign a Spanish Language or English Language Commitment Letter at that time as well.
Your rescued dog, once vaccinated and healthy, will be advertised in several US and Canada-based registries as well as a North American registry. When someone shows interest in adopting your dog, our team will work with you and the potential adopter to evaluate whether this is the right home for the dog. Then, when you dog is officially adopted, we handle the transportation of your dog to it’s new home.
Select the intake form below in the language of your choice to get started.
